Matthew Burkhardt

Supply Chain Management

    Biography

My name is Matthew Burkhardt, and I am majoring in supply chain management. I have a passion for learning, both about people and knowledge, and I constantly strive to be the best version of myself.

During my childhood, I was heavily involved in athletics, which allowed me to develop a wide range of soft skills. I also actively participated in community programs, such as the Boy Scouts, where I achieved the highest honor of Eagle Scout. It was in these experiences that I grew the most, coming out of my shell and further developing my leadership skills while learning to apply essential knowledge.

One of the key motivations for joining the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program (Heath IBEP) was the outstanding engineering program at my high school. I've always had a fascination with mechanical components, from working with RC cars to building models. I initiated my journey with an honors engineering program at my high school, where we planned, designed, and fabricated various projects for the school and local community, including projects like building a new scoreboard, theater railings, or custom bike racks. My pre-college experience in engineering and business classes prepared me well for Heath IBEP. This program offers incredible opportunities to collaborate with like-minded peers who share similar ambitions and aspire to excel in their respective fields. It also provides access to successful upperclassmen who can offer insights into their paths to success. Moreover, I chose Heath IBEP due to its extensive alumni network, which will help me navigate my field of study and prepare for my future career.

Upon graduation, I plan to pursue a master's degree in supply chain management or a related field. I also aim to keep my options open for my future career and have a desire to serve my country in the military, as I am currently enrolled in the Air Force ROTC program. My goal is to continue expanding my knowledge about the technical aspects of processes and the problem-solving methods engineers employ. I am tremendously excited about the upcoming years in this program.
