Biography

My motivation has always been fueled by a quote I once heard – “She believed she could, so she did”. After coming to the University of Tennessee, I have pushed myself to fulfill all the goals I have set out to accomplish by maintaining a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and a constant desire and drive to learn. I have found that because of this I am constantly stepping out of my comfort zone and attempting to do something even if I believe I might not succeed. By stepping out of my comfort zone I was able to leave home, a small town in Texas, and become a Volunteer. In my time here, I have become involved in several organizations including Sigma Alpha Lambda Honors Fraternity, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Phi Mu Fraternity, and the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program.I decided I wanted to be a part of the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering program after hearing about it in my first Business Administration class. Although I am a business major, I have always wanted to learn more about the technical side of things. I am a firm believer in not settling with “how” but understanding “why” and believed that this program would be a great opportunity for me to understand the “whys”. Additionally, I wanted to be able to understand how both business and engineering interact in the work place and how to potentially bridge the communication gap that is common between the two industries today. I believe it is important to not only understand one discipline, but how they all come together as a whole. By doing so, I will be better equipped to understand how others approach their job responsibilities and the challenges they might face, in order to better assist them and reach a cohesive and successful end goal. As a Supply Chain Management major at the Haslam College of Business, I am excited to utilize what I have learned to create efficient and reliable systems for a company once I graduate. I am currently interested in working in the pharmaceutical, technology, consumer goods industry with a role in procurement or manufacturing. Because of my passion for traveling I would also enjoy the opportunity to work internationally and after a few years, continue my education by pursuing an MBA.
