Biography
I’m Lucas Heifner, a business enthusiast with a passion for the intricacy of numbers and strategy that defines the financial world. I am a 2027 graduate at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where I am studying both Finance and Accounting. From a young age, my parents always taught me to put 100% effort into everything that I do. I have taken this lesson with me and expanded it beyond just my work ethic, by also applying it in my communication, leadership, problem solving, and everything else that I do.
Throughout my time at the University of Tennessee, I have joined a variety of different business clubs that have given me knowledge that is priceless, and relationships that will last a lifetime. However, when I first came across the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program, I knew that this program would be a unique opportunity. Before I became a business student, I wanted to become an engineer in high school. I was told by peers and teachers that my passion for numbers and mathematics would lead me to become an engineer. However, I didn’t have a passion for engineering, even though I had a love for numbers. I discovered that I had a passion for relationship building. I love talking to people, and communication is something that I wouldn’t be able to live without. Heath IBEP has allowed me to embrace my love for numbers and mathematics while pursuing my passion for the business world.
After my time at the University of Tennessee, I will be pursuing a career in Investment Banking or Private Equity. Through a variety of internships, including New Century Capital Partners, El Toro Capital Management, and Energy Innovation Capital, I have come to realize that I want to have a career in the capital markets. Watching my sister, who is three years older than me, go through the investment banking recruitment process, opened my eyes to a world that I had never heard about at the dinner table before. My sister is now working at Deutsche Bank in New York, and I want to follow in her footsteps by working at an investment banking firm out of undergraduate. I am truly grateful for all of the opportunities that I have been given, especially through Heath IBEP, to allow me to be a part of this transformative experience, and strive for my goals.
