Marketing and Management
Biography
Hello, I’m Kathryn Wigington, a junior at the University of Tennessee pursuing dual degrees in Marketing and Management within the Haslam College of Business.
I chose marketing and management because they allow me to leverage several of my strengths:
- Communication
- Organization
- Leadership
These disciplines have provided a platform for me to develop my skills in ways that align with my personal and professional goals.
During my time at UT, I’ve come to appreciate the significance of authenticity. Embracing your unique personality helps you stand out and achieve success. This principle has proven true in all my endeavors, and I strive to remain genuine and transparent in my interactions with fellow students and faculty.
My decision to join the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program (Heath IBEP) was driven by an understanding that marketers need a comprehensive knowledge of the products they’re promoting. Effective communication with engineers is crucial for this understanding. Key reasons include bridging the gap between creators and marketers, refining strategies through collective skills, and learning the ‘language of engineering’ to enhance marketing abilities. I am confident that Heath IBEP will sharpen my skills as a marketer by fostering these connections.
Upon graduation, I plan to pursue a graduate degree, most likely an MBA or JD. Ultimately, I aspire to work in the entertainment industry at companies like Disney, Universal, or Paramount—what I consider ‘dream-selling’ companies.
