Biography
My name is Isabella Siegrist, and I am majoring in Finance at the Haslam College of Business with a collateral in Marketing and a minor in the Health Integrated Business and Engineering Program (HIBEP).
I grew up with my dad always telling me, “Shoot for the moon, Isabella, because even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” In that way, I’ve always been the type of person to reach toward what is difficult, for even if I fail, there’s a lesson waiting for me, or another opportunity soon to be around the corner.
Throughout high school, that meant specializing in my love for STEM related subjects. In those accelerated courses, I would often be just one of a few girls in the class, which at first, made me reserved, or uncertain of my voice. However, I soon learned that my worth was just as great as any of my male counterparts, and I entered college, then, with the strength and determination to achieve my goals
At the same time, I was developing an interest in business, inspired by observing my dad’s success and passion in the field. My own love for numbers and the business world naturally led me to choose finance as my major at UT Knoxville. While I valued the intersection of business and STEM, I was eager to explore how they could blend even more seamlessly. That curiosity is what led me to discover the Heath Program.
Through Heath IBEP, I recognized the opportunity to pursue my interests in a cumulative and collaborative way. Looking ahead, I envision a career where I can blend elements and skills from both business and the sciences. My internship at a real estate investment firm over summer provided a firsthand look at this integration. I gained hands-on experience bridging business and engineering disciplines by analyzing complex financial models and applying technical problem-solving skills. This experience demonstrated the powerful synergy between these fields and reinforced my ambition to pursue a career that combines business acumen with engineering insights.
I’m exploring opportunities in venture capitalism or private equity. Wherever I land, I know my Heath education is preparing me for a lifetime of integrated challenges, equipping me with a diverse set of essential skills.
