Biography

I was born and raised in Knoxville, TN, and some of the skills that have shaped me throughout my life include perseverance, humility, communication, and work ethic. Growing up on a farm my parents instilled on me the skills to be self-sufficient and responsible for my actions. It was a simple, sometimes challenging, life but it taught me so much about working hard, appreciating what you have, and loving your family. First and foremost, you learn to be humble. You won’t always be successful, and that’s okay. You learn to appreciate what you have and appreciate your successes a whole lot more. I am also a firm believer in if you don’t know something always ask for help from others, and thus, I learn that I truly work best when I am around others collaborating. Finally, being able to bring all these skills to the university, has impacted my academic and social life greatly and I hope that these skills keep helping me succeed now and into the future. When I first heard about the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program, it stood out to me the moment I had the opportunity to apply freshman year. I had always been exposed to both engineering and business since my mother and sister are in the engineering field and my father in business. In high school, I has heavily involved in the STEM program and it became a passion of mine. Coming into college I knew I wanted to peruse a business degree however felt that I was lacking that engineering aspect in my life. The combination of Engineering and Business, through this program, fit perfectly into my interests and success during my college years. Being able to understand and communicate between the two industries is integral for the success and growth of a company. Heath IBEP has also helped me to further develop my professional skills by allowing the cohorts to speak with executives and alumni who want to share their experiences, tips within the field, and success stories. Being a Haslam College of Business supply chain management major, I naturally gravitate towards manufacturing, transportation, forecasting, and procurement. I spend my extracurricular time trying to learn everything I can about the logistics industry. The Heath IBEP set me apart in my search for an internship this summer and I was fortunate enough to acquire an internship in inventory management of a Fortune 500 company. Through the next two years at the University of Tennessee, I want to broaden my horizons in order to find where I perform best in corporate America as well as working internationally.
