Biomedical Engineering

    Biography

My name is Samir Natour, and I am studying Biomedical Engineering. From a young age, I had a strong interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). Curiosity drove me to understand how everything worked, whether it was technology or simple machines. This early fascination led me down the path of engineering. However, when I entered high school, my narrow mindset was challenged. I began exploring the business world, and I saw a new challenge that was distinct from everything I had learned in engineering. I went back and forth between the two options, struggling to determine which better suited my ambitions.

Clarity came during a Model United Nations conference where I was a member of a technological defense committee. Although the situations discussed were exaggerated, I began to realize how closely connected the two fields were. Without people to defend and promote technology, the designs and ideas remained useless. From that point on, I understood that by shifting my focus to incorporate both disciplines, I would be better equipped to achieve my goals. Since then, I've concentrated on adjusting my skill set to fit into both worlds. I immersed myself in various leadership roles to develop the necessary teamwork and decision-making skills. Through the challenges I've encountered, I've learned the value of determination, and I carry that mentality in everything I do.

I joined the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program with the hope of further developing these skills and working toward my goal of becoming an entrepreneur. As a bridge between both disciplines, it provides the perfect platform for me to address the issues I want to focus on. My ultimate aim is to create and manage my own medical device company. Having had personal experiences with various medical machines, either directly or through my family, I want to create better solutions that prevent problems rather than merely reacting to them.

After completing my Bachelor's degree, I plan to pursue a Master's degree. I would like to spend some time at a medical firm to gain insights into what has worked and what needs improvement. Eventually, I aspire to establish my own company.
