Biography
My name is Rachel Fisher and I am a sophomore studying Industrial Engineering and a member of the 2022 Cohort of the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program. Throughout my high school and college career I have been heavily involved in student organizations and serving the communities I am a part of. This involvement has allowed me to develop leadership and communication skills as well as make many meaningful connections with those around me. I pride myself in being a self-motivated, people-oriented person who is creative and artistic as well as technical and logical. My greatest strengths lie in my capacities for adaptability, empathy, perseverance, intelligence, and reliability. I have learned to see myself as a servant to others through working in a restaurant as a waitress and hostess for more than 3 years. What sets me apart from others is my willingness to stay the extra hour and go the extra mile. I view myself as consistent, steady, and committed even when faced with hardships. My interest in the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program started because I felt that knowledge of basic business concepts would be an important asset for an engineer. Furthermore, the program offers the opportunity to work with diverse skillsets to solve problems. I felt that this type of experience reflected real challenges I would face in the workforce and would set me apart from my peers. The program has exceeded my expectations in providing me with countless valuable experiences, connections and resources. The relationships I have made with the other students in my cohort are invaluable and the networking opportunities and executive mentorship have been vital to my professional development. Industries that interest me include sustainability, medical devices, energy, waste management, and manufacturing. I am an advocate for women in STEM fields as well as environmental issues. I hope to make an impact on the world through encouraging and inspiring women in male dominated professions and helping to make our communities more sustainable. I am searching for a career that allows me to utilize my passions for the environment and helping and serving others. Although my passions lie in those specific areas, I am excited to learn about all aspects of industrial engineering and what I can contribute to the profession.
