Management
Biography
Hello, my name is Madison Gean. I am a Leadership and Organizational Management Major at the University of Tennessee and a part of the 2027 Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Cohort. Since I was little, I knew that I wanted to attend UT, but the path to get here was challenging.
I grew up in a small town in West Tennessee called Savannah. This was a great town to grow up in, but going into high school, I quickly realized it would take a lot of work. I had to work hard to get good grades and stay active in my organizations, but without access to AP classes, I had to think of different ways to set myself apart.
As my high school career ended, I graduated as Salutatorian, worked part-time, was Student Council President, volunteered for over 400 hours, and was Class President for three years. As a result, I was awarded the Distinguished Tennessean Award and was able to commit to the school of my dreams.
Since attending the University of Tennessee, I have been involved in:
- The Venture Living & Learning Community
- Alpha Kappa Psi - Zeta Lambda
- Photographing the Men's Lacrosse Team
When thinking about my career plans, I knew that I was mathematically driven and loved problem-solving but also wanted to help people. Ultimately, I drew inspiration from my mother, who has been an HR manager all my life. Seeing the impact her spirit had on her employees made me want to replicate that.
Eventually, I decided to become a Management major; however something was missing. When looking for organizations to be involved in, I found Heath IBEP which felt like the perfect place for me because it allowed me continue building my communication skills while using mathematics too!
Currently interested in working in the management field although very excited use knowledge gained through program future opportunities come way!
