Biography
My name is Luke Seagrist, and I am a supply chain management student in the 2027 Cohort of the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program (HIBEP). Growing up in Knoxville, I have been involved in sports for as long as I can remember, with baseball playing a significant role in shaping who I am today. Through sports, I developed a love for competition and a drive to win, which motivates me to give my best effort in everything I do. My greatest strength, attained through sports, is grit—when things don’t go as planned, I adapt, find solutions, and make the most of any situation. I take pride in maximizing outcomes and never giving up. I value loyalty, communication, and commitment, especially in the workplace, because I believe in the importance of a dedicated and invested team.
I discovered the HIBEP program when I applied to the University of Tennessee (UT) and immediately knew it was the perfect fit for me. I was torn between pursuing business or engineering, as I am passionate about understanding how things work, designing processes, and working with people to solve problems and innovate. HIBEP is teaching me to bridge the gap between business and engineering, enabling better communication, execution, and success. I am eager to gain valuable experience and knowledge through HIBEP courses, site visits, guest speakers, and the mentorship program, which I believe will be instrumental in shaping my professional future.
My immediate professional goals include graduating with a degree in supply chain management while gaining practical experience through work, internships, and study abroad. I aspire to work on large-scale projects where I can see the direct impact of my work on people’s lives. While I am not yet set on a specific industry, I am exploring internships in various fields to help me find the best fit. In the long term, I aspire to own a business and manage it alongside other ventures to stay versatile and engaged.
