Industrial Engineering
Biography
My name is Josephine Braun, and I am an industrial engineering major in the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program 2028 cohort. I am also a technician at the Kao Innovation and Collaboration Studio, where I have gained hands-on experience in the use and maintenance of industrial-grade machines. Leadership and team building are two of my core strengths—skills I have been developing throughout my life by seeking every opportunity to grow and refine them.
Outside of academics, I am passionate about dance. I have trained in various styles, including ballet, hip hop, line dancing, west coast swing, and more. No matter the style, dance has always been a source of joy and creativity for me. In addition to being a dancer, I am also a dance teacher. I teach ballet and jazz to young children as well as line dancing to high school and college students. Teaching has been an incredibly rewarding experience that has deepened my understanding of leadership and care—lessons I wouldn’t trade for anything.
Joining Heath IBEP was a dream come true for me. From the moment I learned about it, I knew it was something I needed to be part of. The program’s many facets appealed to me, including peer and professional mentorships, team projects with real companies, opportunities to collaborate with business-minded individuals, and its strong social community. As someone whose ultimate career goal is to become an entrepreneur, I recognize the importance of understanding business thought processes and being able to work effectively across disciplines. The more I learned about IBEP, the more certain I became that it was the perfect fit for me.
While entrepreneurship is my long-term goal, I understand that it takes time and experience to get there. For now, I am focused on gaining industry experience through internships with companies that align with my interests. After graduation, I hope to work as an Industrial Engineer at a consulting firm. Additionally, I would love to explore roles in industries connected to music, dance, or entertainment—including amusement parks. Although I am still discovering where my passions lie within the professional world, I am using my time in college to explore different opportunities and find the path that excites me most.
