Biography

My name is Jack Krimmel. I am an Industrial and Systems Engineering major with a Business Administration minor, studying within the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program’s 2023 Cohort. To this point my outgoing personality, competitive nature, and mature decision making has differentiated me from my peers. I attribute these skills to constant participation in team sports. However, the most impactful experiences to my personal development have been holding leadership positions throughout high school and at The University of Tennessee. Through these roles, I have learned that integrity, transparency, and constant communication are essential for effective leadership.

The Heath Integrated Business and Engineering program was introduced to me when I was a junior in high school, and joining the program immediately became a goal of mine. No other program at the University of Tennessee places the same level of emphasis on mentorship, leadership development, and corporate engagement, all of which I believe are vital to effect professional development. As an engineer who aspires to lead teams of businessmen and engineers alike, this program was a perfect fit for my academic and career goals.

My undergraduate experience with industrial engineering is conditioning me to view problems wholistically, from a systems perspective. It is also training me to develop my process improvement, project management, and problem-solving skills. Upon earning my undergraduate degree, I tentatively plan to earn my master’s degrees in business analytics and business administration. I believe my background in industrial engineering, coupled with high level data analysis and management skills, will allow me to better understand the process of data analysis, decision making, and process implementation through strong leadership. This unique combination of high-level coursework will enable me to effectively lead teams of businessmen and engineers to achieve reliable, consistent, and profitable results.

That being said, my career interests are focused on management and IT consulting, specifically in the biotechnology, healthcare systems, and manufacturing industries. As an extroverted individual who constantly craves new experiences and problems, I believe a career in consulting will allow me to connect with a diverse range of clients while solving some of their most challenging problems.
