Biography

I am Frank Moser, and I come from Brentwood, Tennessee. I'm a sophomore at UT majoring in industrial engineering with minors in the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering program (Heath IBEP) and Geographic Information Science. In addition to my studies, I'm part of the 2022 cohort of the Haslam Leadership Scholars Program, an interdisciplinary leadership program with pillars focusing on professional development, leadership studies, and service.

At UT, my passion for giving back to the community and applying engineering problem-solving skills to other disciplines drives me to be highly involved. I'm part of the Student Government Association and served on the First Year Leadership Council, where I helped write and pass a bill advocating for school holidays on election days. Currently, I am serving on the Undergraduate Student Senate representing the Tickle College of Engineering. I'm also a member of UT Model United Nations and a peer mentor on the Engage Leadership Team. Additionally, I volunteer regularly at Pond Gap Elementary School's after-school program.

I'm also involved in undergraduate research. During my freshman year, I completed a two-semester independent research project under Dr. Ben Keck and Dr. Micheal McKinney. I analyzed microplastic levels of fish at different trophic levels in East Tennessee and presented my findings at the 2023 EUReCA conference. This project exposed me to many aspects of sustainability, which I continue to apply in my academic and professional career.

I'm passionate about international experiences. In addition to taking German language classes for over five years, I studied abroad over the May mini term with my Haslam Leadership Scholars cohort in Costa Rica in 2023. Later that summer, I participated in UT's Engineering in London program, where I completed coursework in both thermodynamics and circuits. These experiences have motivated me to set a goal of living and working abroad in Germany or Switzerland sometime during my professional career.

As a part of Heath IBEP, I am excited to develop skills in business and engineering, gain experience from long-term projects as part of Heath IBEP coursework, and work together with my cohort. I hope this program will help me pursue my professional goals of working in either the transportation or automotive industry, eventually working in engineering management.
