Industrial & Systems Engineering
Biography
I am a junior in the Tickle College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville studying to earn a Bachelor of Science in Engineering for Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE). I am also earning minors in Heath Integrated Business and Engineering, Engineering Entrepreneurship, and Engineering Management. I have always had a passion for learning, collaborating with a team and helping others, and I am thankful that a career in ISE will allow me to continue this.
In my current position as a Student Supervisor at the Kao Innovation and Collaboration Studio (ICS), I am spearheading a large standardization change for machine use as an extension of my summer internship. I have been able to further my change management abilities by introducing the standardized methods to returning staff and the customer base. Similarly, I am the liaison between employees, clients, and management to improve the training program through applying risk analysis techniques and performing data analytics to monitor customer growth and satisfaction. Additionally, I utilize my communication and focus strengths to train students on machines in the lab, which include: waterjets, laser cutters, FDM 3D printers, welding, power tools, and finishing tools.
My internship at the Kao ICS gave me experience in project management as I led a team to design structured training materials for thousands of students. This included quick reference sheets, written instructions and instructional videos that maximize overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and mitigate safety risks. I was also responsible for digitizing these documents to streamline the adoption of new processes and serve a larger customer base; yielding an 11% increase in users after the first two weeks.
My career goal is to help people through creating efficiencies and making their jobs easier through standardized work. I became passionate about this because of my previous project with reducing bottlenecks in the receiving department with a jewelry company in Knoxville.
Right now, I am interested in exploring opportunities across many industries including: project management, consulting, manufacturing, supply chain, and optimization. I would like to get exposure to these industries with hands-on experience through summer internships!
