Biography
Hello, I'm Emmalee Neils, a proud member of the 2026 cohort in the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program at the University of Tennessee. Originally from Milford, Michigan, I've found a new home in Knoxville and am loving my time here.
Moving away from home was a significant change that has:
- Bolstered my independence
- Enhanced my interpersonal skills
- Made me more comfortable trying new things
I possess a strong work ethic and unwavering determination to achieve my goals. Some key experiences include:
- Gaining leadership experience through sports teams, group projects, and the Ignite Program at UT
- Volunteering with the Young-Williams Animal Center whenever possible
I strive to help others succeed alongside me, fostering a collaborative environment wherever I go.
Initially uncertain about how to incorporate business into my education, discovering Heath IBEP was pivotal:
- Realized the deep connection between business and engineering
- Found Industrial Engineering aligned with my interests in coursework and future opportunities
Through Heath IBEP, I've embraced Industrial Engineering fully and have been very happy with my choice so far.
I am enthusiastic about collaborating with individuals of diverse backgrounds to develop an open-minded approach to problem-solving. My goals include:
- Acquiring knowledge applicable beyond the classroom
- Encouraging myself and peers to maximize our time in the program
While still exploring specific career paths within the industry, I am initially interested in roles that involve travel for several reasons:
- Connecting with people in different regions to expand my network
- Observing various strategies used around the country/world for idea sharing
Long-term goals include working in leadership or management roles where I can be part of a cohesive team that thrives on collaboration.
