Biography

Growing up, I have always been a very driven person. No matter what I set my mind to, whether it be athletics, academics, or any other goal, I have always been willing to do whatever it takes to not just succeed, but to excel. Having this quality has helped me in every aspect of my life and has taught me so many lessons. I would even go as far as to say that my drive and desire to succeed is my best asset.

In high school, I was involved in several things that helped me to grow as a person and a future leader. I am a very leadership minded person and have always wanted to be a leader that others can look up to. In my senior year of high school, I was a grant writer and project leader for a service project that aimed to help one of the poorest communities in Tennessee, Orange Mound. This experience taught me so much about leadership, and made me realize that the best type of leader is a servant leader. I believe that every leader should put themselves last and should always try to help the people around them grow and become better versions of themselves. It is of the utmost importance to me to have a positive impact on others.

That reason specifically is one of the biggest reasons I joined Heath IBEP. Originally, I applied to Tennessee as a biomedical engineering major because I wanted to be a pediatric orthopedic surgeon and to help others. Then, all of my career goals changed when my mom got very sick. One day, my mom woke up and was in excruciating pain and was unable to move her legs. Thankfully, with the help of doctors and a balloon pump prosthetic, she was able to relearn how to walk a few months later. This terrible tragedy opened my eyes to the importance of medical devices and the impact they can have on people’s lives. I know that with the help of
Heath IBEP, I can combine the two industries that I am most passionate about.

Now, my dream job is to work in medical device sales and to help give others access to things that can change their lives, just like these devices did for my mom. I’m not quite sure what specifically my future career will entail, but I know that no matter what happens, I will end up in the medical device industry and will be able to make a difference in other’s lives.
