Mechanical Engineering
Biography
My name is Eleanor White, and I am a sophomore mechanical engineering student from St. Louis, MO. Throughout my life, I have prioritized personal integrity and hard work in everything I do. Playing soccer taught me the value of cohesive teamwork and working toward shared goals—an essential skill as industries increasingly emphasize collaboration. Additionally, my experience as a caddie at a local country club sparked my desire to connect with professionals across industries and learn from their successes.
I believe my most valuable quality is diligence. Throughout my life, I have faced roadblocks on the path to achieving my goals. After receiving a poor test grade, I sought extra support and ultimately earned an A in the class. When told I wasn’t talented enough to play for the Missouri Olympic Development soccer team, I doubled down on my training—both in the gym and on the field—and eventually became a goalkeeper for one of the most well-known soccer clubs in the country. Diligence and tenacity are constants in my life, driving me to achieve the milestones I set for myself.
When I first learned about the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program, I knew it was something I wanted to be part of. The program offers the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals in both engineering and business—something I have been seeking since high school. Heath IBEP aligns perfectly with my goal of developing a business mindset while completing my engineering degree. I look forward to continuing to grow my teamwork and interpersonal skills during my time in the program.
My professional goals fall into two categories: national defense and sports wearables. During my search for like-minded peers, I applied to military academies. Although I was not granted admission due to a knee injury, the people I met throughout that process inspired me to make a difference as a business-minded engineer. As an athlete, I am particularly interested in biometrics and their impact on performance. The opportunity to create or advance products that help athletes and organizations achieve their goals excites me. Through Heath IBEP, I aim to gain clarity on the right career path for me while further developing my teamwork, networking, and interpersonal skills.
