Business Analytics
Biography
My name is Dandy Escalante Mazariegos. I am a first generation American-immigrant, pursuing a degree in Business Analytics with a minor in Entrepreneurship in the Haslam College of Business. I am a member of the 2027 cohort of the Health Integrated Business and Engineering Program. Through my upbringing, I always saw that hard work, dedication, and commitment leads to success. However, through my own personal experiences and the formation of my own values, I have also discovered that passion and determination help achieve and accomplish set goals. Being raised by a single immigrant mother, having a successful career has always been the goal, not an option. Which is why through the past year I have attempted to gain as much knowledge and skills to better enhance myself.
My dedication to success has led me to join different organizations such as the Latino Business Student Association, the Business Analytics Society, Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc, and as a student ambassador for the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. I believe that passion is a great way to transport your commitment and dedication through, so all of the organizations that I am a part of are significant to me, and whose mission I believe in, and would like to continue to spread throughout my community and campus.
My interest in Heath IBEP sparked when I realized that I could have some understanding of engineering and how to handle unique, systems-thinking problems in the workforce. As well as being benefited through the competition and mind-like classmates who will push me to do better every step of the way. I was also drawn in by the executive mentor who would provide me with their experiences and knowledge of the field I am wanting to pursue. Lastly, being able to push myself in order to expand my skills in time management and organization.
My interest in the business analytics field comes through the want of helping businesses grow and innovate through the use of data provided. I would like to use my background in business and engineering to solve the problems that involved problem-solving and critical thinking. Later on, I would like to go down the entrepreneurial path and start a business of my own – a marketing firm. I know that through hard work, discipline, and passion I can achieve the goals that I have set for myself.
