Biography
Hello! My name is Connor Fox, and I am a member of the 2026 Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program (Heath IBEP) cohort, majoring in Finance. My interest in pursuing a career in business, especially finance, stems from my passion for quantitative and analytical thinking, as well as my love for interpersonal communication and networking. During my time at UT, I have been building a comprehensive knowledge of the finance and accounting fields. To achieve this, I have actively participated in various clubs and organizations, with the aim of developing my communication and community-building skills while gaining valuable insights into the business world.
One notable example of my involvement is my membership in the Tennessee Capital Markets Society. In the spring of 2023, I spent ten weeks learning foundational financial concepts, conducting business research, and practicing valuation methodologies such as the Discounted Cash Flow, Comparable Companies Analysis, and Leveraged Buyout Analysis. Additionally, I am employed as a Data Analytics Intern in the UTK Office of Advancement, specifically for the department of Annual Giving. In this role, I closely work with the UT Alumni database, conducting various research projects related to the types of gifts received by the university and the alumni who contribute to them.
On a broader campus-wide scale, I am engaged in several clubs and organizations that serve and engage with the University and the Knoxville community. I am a member of the Student Government Association, where I serve as the Deputy to the Executive Treasurer. I also hold the position of Director of Purchasing for VOLthon, UT's Children's Miracle Network Dance Marathon, which raises funds for the East Tennessee Children's Hospital. My involvement in these organizations has provided invaluable opportunities to contribute to my campus community and enhance my leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
Currently, my career goals involve pursuing a position as an analyst in the consulting and business advisory services industry. I am intrigued by the prospect of working across various industries and markets to offer business solutions to companies. I believe this career field encapsulates the ideal blend of my interests as I contemplate my professional journey post-graduation.
I am particularly drawn to Heath IBEP because of the opportunity it offers for gaining practical experience in cross-disciplinary communication and systems thinking. I am thrilled about the chance to collaborate with my cohort and work with companies spanning different industries to acquire practical and valuable experience. I am confident that Heath IBEP will significantly contribute to my goal of entering the advisory services industry by providing hands-on experience in utilizing systems thinking to devise business solutions for a diverse range of companies.
