Biography
Hello, my name is Catie Foley. I am a sophomore at the University of Tennessee pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering and minoring in integrated business and engineering.
Mechanical engineering drew my attention because of my insatiable desire to learn how and why mechanisms and processes work. The problem solving skills I am developing amplify my existing strengths in strategizing and arranging complex variables to determine the best path forward.
True success to me is making a meaningful positive impact. My beliefs have always guided me by shaping my understanding that everything is connected to something bigger. Whether through my faith, creating a mechanism that allows a greater machine to function, or contributing to a small team working toward a larger project, I greatly value doing my part to see the larger product succeed. Because there is always a greater purpose, I take pride in every contribution, knowing that each component is essential to the success of the larger system.
When I learned about Heath IBEP, I was immediately intrigued by the opportunity to learn more about the connection between business and engineering. I seek to explore the bigger picture and how business and engineering are both vital for excellence. Not only was I attracted to studying these two disciplines’ place in industry, but I was also enticed by the opportunity to practice my developing skills with a team of peers on real-world projects. I look forward to being challenged by the new experiences and ways of thinking I will encounter through Heath IBEP.
Post graduation, I hope to contribute to complex systems whether as an engineering specialist or in project management. If I have the opportunity to use my skills internationally, I would be eager to apply my engineering and business knowledge to develop practical solutions to challenges around the world.
