Biography

My name is Carson Seiler, and I am a member of the 2029 cohort of the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. I’m from Zionsville, a town just north of Indianapolis, Indiana, where I grew up alongside my three brothers. We constantly competed in sports, chores, games, and whatever else we possibly could, ultimately leading to my competitive nature and relentless drive for success. Individually, I’ve always loved creating – whether that be classic LEGO’s, graphic design, carpentry, or 3D design and printing – and seeing something go through a process towards completion. Those upbringings have helped me develop distinct skill sets that led me to where I am now. I’m extremely comfortable in competitive situations and enjoy the thrill of winning, but I handle setbacks positively.

I attended Zionsville Community High School, a large public school known for its academic rigor and exceptional college preparation. Through schoolwork and experience within the community, I learned countless valuable leadership, time management, and adaptability skills that I still use daily. Aside from school, I played lacrosse for nearly a decade and finished my high school career highly accomplished - two years as team captain, two team MVP’s, two All-Conference selections, the Leadership Award, Eagle Legacy Award, and a scholarship, among other academic and all-state nominations and selections. Aside from being something to brag about, my accomplishments provide undeniable evidence of my motivation, dedication to success, work ethic, consistent leadership, and accountability.

Part of my decision to attend the University of Tennessee came from my desire to experience newness. A new culture, environment, community, region, and opportunity. Within that was the opportunity to blend my burning passion for both engineering and business through the Heath IBEP. The program’s dedication to work with like-minded students striving for real-world impact aligned closely with my interests. I’ve always loved building, inventing, and creating as much as I’ve been fascinated by business operations, leadership, and helping others. The Heath IBEP provides unmatched support and prepares me for the future interdisciplinary challenges I look forward to working on.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, I plan to pursue product design and development, hoping to pair my creativity with the opportunity to manage projects. I also plan on going back to school to obtain a master’s degree in either business administration or engineering management with the intent of helping to lead or start a business.
