Biography

Caleb Hopper is a sophomore studying industrial engineering with minors in the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering program, as well as the Haslam Leadership Scholars Program. Caleb thrives in environments where he gets to work with others, as he is a great communicator, knows how to find his role on a team, and understands what it takes to get projects done.

Throughout his academic career, he has been able to grow his leadership experience through various clubs such as Student Government Association where he participated as a First-Year Council Member, and Salt UTK where he is actively a Bible study leader. Recently, through a project management internship, Caleb has developed skills in the construction field. This includes skills such as Procore, Share Point, Building Connected, and Bluebeam. Within these softwares, Caleb has had the opportunity to submit RFIs, review submittals, and execute takeoffs. In his past experiences, the skills that have aided Caleb the most are those he developed from his time in sports. Caleb was able to learn the importance of the individual, and more importantly, how the individual plays a major role in the team. Whether it be an 11v11 game of soccer or a three person project with students from his class, Caleb understands the importance of diversity of ideas and the concept of collaboration. Knowing that everyone has different strengths and weaknesses, learning about those differences through relationships allows him to assess the roles that best fit each team member.

Using the skills Caleb has developed, he is interested in a couple different career paths. The first one is corporate, being able to work and commit to a company where he will be able to make a difference, climb the ladder, and use his leadership skills to make a difference. Caleb is considering pursuing a career where he can one day be a CEO and hopes to be a factor that improves others’ lives. The second path Caleb is considering is that of management consulting. Caleb enjoys solving problems, finding what causes them, and working with others to help enact the best solution. Caleb feels this can be best found in the field of management consulting. As Caleb progresses through college he is looking forward to gaining more experience through research and internships.
