Industrial Engineering

    Biography

I am Brooklyn Finarty, an Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) student with a minor in Project Management as well as in the 2026 Cohort of the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program (Heath IBEP). I am a diligent student, timely contributor, and transparent communicator. Having lived in five different states, I have had the opportunity to develop these qualities and learn numerous valuable lessons, including the ability to adapt to change, the importance of open communication, and the significance of collaboration. Since beginning college, I have actively engaged with Women in Engineering, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), where I served as the SWEeties Communication Chair, a SWEeties peer mentor, and participated in intramural sports. Through SWE, I volunteered as an advisor for a local middle school engineering club. Additionally, I am closely involved with a non-profit organization called the Widowed Parent Relief Project, offering support to parents and children through personalized care. I continue to invest in my future by utilizing the clubs, resources, and guidance provided by the University of Tennessee.

My academic advisor recommended that I join Heath IBEP, recognizing it as an opportunity to further develop my ISE skills while connecting with peers from various majors. My advisor facilitated a connection with a student from the 2025 cohort who improved my understanding of the program and encouraged me to apply. One of the primary reasons behind my decision to apply was the professional mentorship program. Learning from professionals in my field provides me with the opportunity to learn, engage, and grow in a collaborative and supportive environment while establishing personal and reliable relationships. In addition to mentorship, I was drawn to the hands-on learning and real-world experiences offered by Heath IBEP, which involves connecting students with active projects for high-profile companies. Participating in such projects offers invaluable learning experiences that cannot be replicated in a classroom setting.

Upon completing my undergraduate degree, my plan is to pursue a career in the ISE field while concurrently earning my MBA. I am eager to explore the various businesses and fields where my ISE degree can be applied. After obtaining my MBA, my goal is to secure a high-level position focused on employee management. Equipped with the skills and experiences provided by Heath IBEP, I am confident in my ability to achieve my professional and career goals while thriving within the workplace.
