Industrial Engineering
Biography
I am Brooklyn Finarty, an Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) student with a minor in Project Management, part of the 2026 Cohort of the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program (Heath IBEP) at UT.
I have completed a six-month co-op as a Quality Engineer at Altec Industries, gaining invaluable experience in the manufacturing industry. This experience has honed my skills in quality assurance, process improvement, and team collaboration. Additionally, living in six different states has further developed my adaptability, communication, and collaboration skills.
Since starting college, I have actively engaged in various leadership opportunities including roles as a Communication Chair, Ambassador, Peer Mentor, Engagement Coordinator, and Active Volunteer. These roles have significantly enhanced my leadership and organizational abilities.
My freshman year mentor recommended that I join Heath IBEP to further develop my ISE skills while connecting with peers from various majors. The mentorship program within Heath IBEP allows me to learn from professionals providing opportunities to learn, engage, and grow. Participating in real-world projects for high-profile companies offers invaluable experiences not found in classrooms. The professional mentorship program was a primary reason behind my decision to apply as it offers personal and reliable relationships within the industry.
Upon completing my undergraduate degree, I plan to pursue a career in the manufacturing field while concurrently earning my MBA. My goals include exploring various businesses where my ISE degree can be applied and securing a high-level position focused on employee management after obtaining my MBA. Equipped with the skills and experiences provided by Heath IBEP, I am confident in achieving my professional goals and thriving within the workplace.
