Anne Clare Duncan

Industrial Engineering

    Biography

My name is Anne Clare Duncan, and I am an Industrial Engineer with minors in Business and Engineering Integration and Engineering Management. I am part of the 2025 Cohort of the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program (HIBEP). As a member of both the Chancellor’s Honors Program and Cook Grand Challenge Honors Program, I have immersed myself in various academic and extracurricular activities to broaden my horizons.

I am actively involved in the Society of Women Engineers, where I serve as the Vice President of Volunteering and act as a mentor to younger members. Through this program, I have had the opportunity to volunteer as a leader for an after-school engineering club at Pond Gap Elementary. This experience has been invaluable in developing my leadership, communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills as we taught young students and worked with them on experiments. This experience further honed leadership skills I developed during high school, where I served as captain of the varsity soccer team and held officer positions in service and honor clubs. My involvement in these activities showcased my reliability, organization, flexibility, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.

In high school, I was torn between pursuing a degree in business or engineering. My decision leaned towards engineering after participating in High School Introduction to Engineering Systems for Twelfth Graders (HITES12). However, I still wanted to incorporate business into my education. Discovering the IBEP program was a turning point for me—it offered the perfect blend of engineering and business while enhancing my skills in communication, leadership, and problem-solving. My motivation has always driven me towards excellence. Choosing industrial engineering felt like a natural next step since it closely aligns with many business aspects within industry sectors.

Upon graduating, my goal is to gain hands-on experience within the engineering field before transitioning to a business-centered role. Specifically:

    1. Management: Applying engineering insights into effective management strategies.
    1. Consulting: Leveraging technical knowledge for insightful consultancy.
    1. Supply Chain Management: Enhancing efficiency through improved process designs.

While these areas captivate me most—I remain open-minded toward exploring diverse opportunities that may come my way post-graduation.
