Biography
Hi, my name is Ally Collier, and I am part of the Heath IBEP 2025 cohort. As a first-generation college student, I pride myself on being a hard worker. Hard work has always been important to me because it has allowed me to accomplish any goal I set my mind to. Compassion is another core value that I try to embrace. It is important to me that I am able to help others with their hardships.
This has allowed me to gain leadership experience through being a TA and a mentor. I would not be where I am today without these two traits, and I feel that they can be applied to any situation.
I joined the IBEP program because I know it is a program that will help me improve and foster my professional skills in a business-oriented environment. I feel it is also important for engineers to be educated on the business aspects of industry to remove barriers when working with business professionals on a team. I want to use this program to help myself and others succeed. The program also allows me to work with a lot of people with different perspectives than my own, which I think is crucial to developing team working skills and communication skills. I feel that it is very beneficial to work with people with different backgrounds and opinions so I am able to see multiple views on a situation. I believe that the program will allow me to gain valuable team and industry experience for my future career.
My industry interests are not focused in one place, but I do enjoy working in heavy manufacturing settings. I have had two internships in the manufacturing industry, one at a paper mill and one at a coal power plant, and have enjoyed the hands-on, fast paced environments I experienced at both of these opportunities. I also enjoy working with CAD software and design work, so I would love to find an opportunity where I could utilize these skills in my work. Overall, I am looking for a company with strong morals and an innovative outlook on how the industry operates and changes.
