Chemical Engineering
Biography
My name is Aidan Ferber, and I am a member of the 2028 cohort of the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UT). I grew up in Brookfield, Wisconsin, alongside my parents, a younger brother, and a twin brother. From an early age, my brothers and I developed a love for competition—whether in the backyard, on the field, or in the classroom. We constantly pushed each other to improve while having fun. This competitive spirit taught me that growth is always possible and revealed the importance of community in achieving new heights together.
I attended Marquette University High School, a Jesuit institution that instilled in me a drive to engage with my community and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around me. Through leadership roles such as serving as captain of the tennis team, organizing service projects in Milwaukee, and holding an executive board position for honors societies, I gained invaluable skills in collaboration, empathy, and performing under pressure. These experiences reinforced my passion for completing projects and initiatives that create lasting impact. As I graduated high school, St. Ignatius’s words, “Ite, inflammate omnia”—meaning “Go forth to set the world on fire”—became a guiding principle for my decisions.
When I first stepped onto campus at the University of Tennessee, I knew that Heath IBEP was my opportunity to continue making an impact within a new community. The program’s emphasis on working with like-minded individuals who are eager to step up and deliver results in real-world situations resonated deeply with me. Heath IBEP provides opportunities to collaborate with students from diverse majors, broadening my perspective while preparing me for interdisciplinary challenges. Additionally, its alumni and mentor networks offer unparalleled support as I integrate into a community of former Vols. Every aspect of Heath IBEP aligns with my goals for personal growth and professional success.
After graduating with a chemical engineering degree with a biomolecular concentration, I plan to pursue opportunities within the healthcare industry. While healthcare is my primary focus, I remain open to exploring other career possibilities within the chemical field as I continue my studies at UT.
