Biography
My name is Sejal Verma, and I am a sophomore at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville pursuing a double major in computer science and economics, with minors in data science and integrated business and engineering. Alongside my involvement in Heath IBEP, I am also a member of the Chancellor’s Honors Program, the Engage Leadership Team, and the Society of Women Engineers. These experiences have helped me strengthen my leadership and problem-solving skills while preparing me for both academic and professional challenges.
Throughout my education and personal life, one lesson I have learned and firmly believe in is that hard work leads to success. This mindset has shaped how I approach new opportunities and challenges, reminding me that perseverance and effort are the greatest drivers of growth. This belief also aligns closely with one of IBEP’s core philosophies: “You get out of it what you put in.” By fully committing to everything I do, I not only improve my own skills but also uplift the teams and communities I am part of.
I joined Heath IBEP to explore the intersection of technology and business while developing leadership and professional experience. The program’s emphasis on real-world projects, mentorship, and interdisciplinary collaboration offers a unique opportunity to gain practical skills that extend beyond the classroom. I am particularly excited about learning how to communicate effectively across disciplines, contribute to team-based problem-solving, and grow through mentorship from both peers and industry leaders.
Looking ahead, my immediate professional goals include pursuing opportunities where I can apply both my technical expertise and business knowledge in real-world settings. I am especially interested in careers in project or product management, where I can combine technical insights with strategic decision-making. Long term, I aspire to build a career that allows me to grow as a leader, expand my skill set, and contribute meaningfully to organizations operating at the intersection of business and technology.
