Chemical Engineering

    Biography

My name is Elizabeth Neville, and I am a Chemical Engineering major of the 2027 Cohort of the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program. Ever since I can remember, I have always enjoyed the art of creativity. Growing up as a competitive dancer was a huge outlet for me to pour my creativity into. While the ways I express my creativity have changed, the drive to be creative has remained the same.

This drive for creativity allowed me to discover my interest in chemistry. With this creative drive, I have learned how to be detail-oriented, as creativity only reflects well if the piece you are working on is organized and precise. I have also learned how to manage multiple tasks at once because there is always something with the possibility of adding creativity.

I found out about the Integrated Business and Engineering Program within my first week at the University of Tennessee. Having prior experience within the field of business, I knew that I wanted to integrate 21st-century business concepts into my future career. Over the next three years as a member of this program, I hope to grow my knowledge of business from my peers and mentors while diving deeper into chemistry.

I aim to use experiences gained from breaking down silos and forming connections during internships. The skills that I will learn during my time in IBEP will be advantageous during internships, providing expertise that others may not have previously acquired.

I hope to gain experience through an internship that allows me to deep dive into science while increasing my drive for creativity. With an interest in the pharmaceutical industry, I would love to work alongside a team creating pharmacy medicine and gain first-hand experience. Additionally, working behind the scenes on biomolecular projects by assisting with manufacturing machines that aid in areas such as gene therapy or vaccine research interests me greatly.

My hope is to land an internship in any of these fields that will allow me to grow as an engineer and acquire skills essential for my career.
