Biography
I am Autumn Larmee, a computer science student in the 2026 cohort of Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program (Heath IBEP). I have always held the belief that hard work leads to success, but it's only recently that I've come to realize the significance of creating and committing to concrete goals to achieve that success. Over the past year, I've dedicated myself to envisioning the career I desire and crafting a path to reach it. As a result, I consider my greatest strength to be the intentionality with which I manage my time. Following a busy freshman year, I've made an effort to focus my time on activities that resonate with my values and career interests. Currently, I am actively involved in the Society of Women Engineers, the UT Symphony Orchestra, and Hack4Impact, a student-led organization that develops software solutions for local non-profits. Each of these activities aligns with my values and future career aspirations.
My decision to apply for Heath IBEP was a vote of confidence in myself and my career journey. While I never considered myself a naturally business-minded person, I decided to discard this self-imposed limitation in favor of an enriching learning experience. Business and engineering are not mutually exclusive, and Heath IBEP imparts essential interdisciplinary skills that bridge the gap between the two. My goal is to gain insight into what makes a business successful and how, as an engineer, I can contribute to that success. Above all, I'm honored to collaborate with my peers in Heath IBEP, each of whom is profoundly passionate and driven. Their dedication inspires me to continually seek new perspectives and strive for excellence.
Upon graduation, my aspiration is to find a career about which I could talk endlessly—a career that ignites my passion and makes a positive impact. While I am still exploring various options and industries, I am working towards a career that combines my interests in technology and healthcare. Ideally, I would like to work as a data scientist in the biotechnology industry. I have a deep fascination with healthcare and hope to develop technologies that contribute to people living longer and healthier lives.
