Biomedical Engineering
Biography
My name is Alyson Champion, and I am a biomedical engineering student in the 2025 cohort of the Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program at University of Tennessee Knoxville. Growing up with a father in engineering and a mother in business, my whole life, I have experienced the need for better communication between the fields. I have grown to greatly value the vast differences between engineers and business minded people; however, I am encouraged to bridge the gap between fields that aren’t quite as different as we think.
I value service-based leadership above all else in the workplace. I also greatly value systems that invest in their workers/members. I am an extremely curious person, always looking to add to my toolbelt. I was interested in yoga, so I got certified to teach. I was interested in personal training, so I got certified to train. I was interested in scuba diving, so I got certified to dive. Along with being curious, I am extremely passionate about the things that I am interested in. I invest countless hours researching and learning about topics that interest me and am determined to learn as much as I can about them.
As a biomedical engineering major, I hope to pursue a career in the medical device industry. I want to work in an environment where I’m not only improving technology, but enhancing others' quality of life. Through the Heath IBEP program, I am able to fuel my curiosity while working on projects that further my educational and professional pursuits.
