Biography
The Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program requires intellectual curiosity, the ability to handle academic rigor, and a focused determination to be successful. I have consistently demonstrated these qualities through my personal and short professional life. Additionally, I have taken on a variety of leadership roles, both academically and professionally. After discovering IBEP, it became clear that it was the program to provide the hands-on experience needed to sharpen my critical thinking skills, to hone my business acumen, and to enhance my communication skills. Collectively, they can be used to solve real-world problems.
While my professional path is still unchartered, working in an engineering capacity has been my goal for quite some time. Opportunities in healthcare, reliability engineering, and the energy industry currently interest me. Each career path provides challenges needing solutions which are bound by technical and financial realities. To be able to contribute effectively and to achieve success, being proficient in both engineering and business is essential. Fortunately, my curiosity about finance and economics fits nicely with this requirement. As a young teenager, it was exciting to learn about how to invest my summer job earnings. I enjoyed researching different investment opportunities, developed an early understanding of financial risk, and set simple financial goals. Likewise, my curiosity about how things work is the basis of my interest in engineering. From an early age, I have explored creative solutions to problems and have enjoyed the challenge of realizing outcomes and being able to communicate them.
I am grateful for the opportunity to participate in the Heath program and look forward to the academic demands provided by the University of Tennessee. I am equally excited about the opportunity to learn from industry leaders and to gain insight into the complex challenges facing their respective fields. My goal is to learn as much as possible, both inside and outside of the classroom, in order to continue to be a leader in solving problems creatively and effectively.
