Biography
I think the most important life lesson I have ever learned is the power of trust and a network of people. No one can achieve something truly great on their own, and instead need the support and time of many people. Due to this, I try to always put people first and I feel that I have benefitted greatly from that, by getting the support and feedback I need to constantly challenge myself. I can classify my current success and recognition to my dedication and competitiveness. These attributes have allowed me to develop my time management, analysis, and communication skills. However, my most proud recognitions are the more informal ones of being a happy, caring person in society. Overall, the importance of a trustworthy, driven network of people has always had a big impact on my life and I hope to expand that in my college years and the future. I joined the Heath Integrated Business Engineering Program (IBEP) to help distinguish and diversify myself in the business/accounting profession in order to achieve my career goals that I strive for. Specifically, this program has allowed me to target and strengthen my problem-solving skills, by exposing me to engineering concepts to aid in the analysis of a business’ processes and problems. This allows me to better understand customers and help bridge the information gap between business and engineering in my own company. Further, the program has also given me opportunities to work on real world projects, providing me with valuable experience, and exposure in developing leadership skills. I have also been able to connect with others in my cohort and be able to help and push each other in order to achieve our goals in college. Lastly, IBEP has paired me with an industry leader mentor that has helped me answer questions on leadership, development, and career aspirations. After graduation, I plan to enroll at the university’s Master of Accountancy program and become a licensed certified public accountant. The main career path I want to follow from there is to work for a public accounting firm under their audit or consulting side. However, I have not ruled out going straight into industry and working my way up into a financial controller position. For industry, my interests lie in sports, consumer products, technology, and tourism. I plan on using internships and my network to help me in my career decisions and hope to commit to a driven company in the future.
